Anyone who has been anywhere near Instagram lately has probably come across a “which” or “who are you” filter. In fact, there’s so many that the variety of other effects are often overlooked. It’s time to rectify this by checking out some of the Instagram filters that are even better that the “who are you” options.
If you’ve yet to get involved with the “who are you” trend sweeping Instagram, then you’re in luck as a bunch of the filters now exist, including specific ones for Disney, Star Wars, Marvel (also a separate Black Widow one), Pokemon, and there’s even one for Taco Bell. In reality, it is not so much that the “who are you” filters have taken off as much as it is Instagram’s AR filter technology. Having the option to instantly apply an augmented reality effect provides an easy way for anyone to spice up their Instagram Stories. The fact that a number of them have also gone viral likely helps in their appeal as well.
The only problem with Instagram filters in general, is that they can be quite difficult to find, although that probably just adds to their allure even more. The absolute easiest way to find one is to actually stumble across it on an Instagram Story as there should be a “Try it” link visible at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively, you can search for the creator of the filter and then find the effect located on their profile page. Speaking of which, the creator’s Instagram handles will be mentioned for any of the filters listed below - to help make finding them a little easier.
Predict The Future & Fast Reaction Instagram Filters
The first one worth taking a look at is the “2020 Predictions” filter from @filippo.soccini. This one was designed to coincide with the new year, but it is still early enough in 2020 to make it worth a try. Essentially, the effect works in the same way as the “who are you” filters by employing a random generator mechanic to tell you what you’ll be doing in 2020. Be warned though, the options range from being rich to dead. Sticking with the predictions theme, there’s also a filter from @akikokoga that will tell you your relationship status for 2020. Alternatively, for those who think their reaction time is on point, there’s the “6 Seconds” filter from @yana.mishkinis. This one is fairly self-explanatory as all you have to do is blink right on 6 seconds. However, this one rounds down to three decimal places making it is not as easy as you might think.
Try A More Socially Responsible Instagram Filter
While the sheer bulk of these filters are just for fun and games, some do come with a more serious side to them as well. A prime example of this is the “Climate Action” filter from @tollydollyposh. Again, this one works along the same lines as the “who are you” filters, although instead of telling you what character you are from your favorite franchise, the random generator suggests an action you can do to help protect the climate and environment. The options for this Instagram filter range from something fairly simple, such as contacting your local representative, to things that are a little more long-term, including going vegan.
