Marvel TV is on the verge of overtaking its film division in terms of output, with 2017 and 2018 looking to produce a number of new projects. Netflix will gain Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher this year. Meanwhile, Cloak & Dagger and Runaways are both filming now and will presumably appear in 2018 on Freeform and Hulu, respectively. Finally, Inhumans will be coming to ABC (by way of IMAX theaters) following a number of years of languishing as a potential film. For fans, it’s a chance to finally see the infamous Inhuman Royal Family brought to life on screen.

Last week, we finally learned the full cast for Inhumans, including Lockjaw. Now that the show has officially begun production, we’ve seen our first set photos teasing Black Bolt in his new costume and a pre-CGI Lockjaw. As a movie, the sweeping scope of the Inhumans seemed like it would get a budget to match. Now that the project has moved to TV, many fans are wondering how some of the more bombastic elements of the series will be brought to life. Lockjaw and Inhumans like Gorgon and Medusa showcase just how much CGI will be required, and that’s without even addressing the massive, technologically advanced city-state that the Inhumans inhabit.

Known as Attilan, the city has traveled from the ocean to the Himalayan Mountains to the moon before crash landing in the Hudson River in the comics. Within it are many towering buildings, mixing grandiose architecture with alien technology. Thanks to a new report by Reel News Hawaii, we may have an idea of how Attilan will be presented:

Hearing “Inhumans” might be filming in Diamond Head crater this week. If you hear anything or see yellow “NX” signs in the area LMK. pic.twitter.com/JhEi9nUSMn— Reel News Hawaii (@reelnewshawaii) March 6, 2017

If Inhumans really is filming in the Diamond Head volcanic crater, it will likely be a place of significance in the series. While it could serve as the location where the Kree originally landed on Earth to experiment on early humans, thus creating the Inhumans, Attilan also seems like a viable option. Given the natural walls, we could see the buildings and houses removed via CGI to make Diamond Head look like a remote city or a freestanding landmass housing the Inhumans. Either way, the show is likely headed there in some capacity, as Reel News Hawaii has been on the forefront of Inhumans news.

It was the Twitter feed that first tipped us off that Inhumans would be filming in Hawaii, thanks to Disney’s acquisition of a new studio space there. They were also the ones who brought us the rumor that Namor may be joining the MCU, though that has yet to be proven true or false. Given the grandeur of Diamond Head, it’s not hard to imagine Marvel filming there. After all, they picked Hawaii as a location on purpose, so they’re likely to utilize its unique sights. With filming in full swing and a premiere just six months away, we’re likely to get a lot more Inhumans news very soon.

Inhumans comes to IMAX theaters for two weeks starting Friday, September 1st prior to its television debut on Tuesday, September 26th on ABC.
