Avengers: Infinity War has passed Jurassic World at the domestic box office. The two films have a lot in common, with both reshaping their respective franchises. Avengers: Infinity War concludes the first two phases of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, while Jurassic World is the update that fans of the original Jurassic Park had been waiting for, reinvigorating the franchise and moving it into the future.

Previous milestones between the two studios have been marked by sharing congratulations via social media. After Universal’s Jurassic World passed the original Avengers in 2015, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige took to Twitter, congratulating Jurassic World on its success. That friendly interaction makes sense to an extent, as the two franchises share a star in Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord in the MCU and raptor trainer Owen Grady in Jurassic World and its upcoming sequel.

Now, Avengers: Infinity War has passed Jurassic World at the domestic box office, according to Box Office Mojo. The acclaimed Marvel team-up extravaganza has knocked Jurassic World down to number 6 on the all-time domestic chart, taking its place at number 5. It’s still got a little ways to climb to beat Titanic (number 4 on the list), and its sister film, Black Panther (number 3).

Black Panther will be a tough act to beat when it comes to domestic box office gross, and it’s quite possible that Infinity War won’t pass it in that measure. Marvel Studios likely won’t mind that much though, as it still has three films currently sitting in the top 10 highest domestic earners of all time. The Avengers currently sits at number 7 (right below Jurassic World). As Avengers: Infinity War sets its sights on $2 billion, the culmination of the most massive film experiment in history has clearly captured the hearts and minds of the world at large, regardless of how much higher it climbs on the domestic chart.

It’ll be interesting to see if this dance occurs again when Jurassic World’s sequel hits U.S. theaters later this month. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has already made 150 million worldwide prior to its stateside debut, and earned a number of positive reviews from critics and fans alike as well. It remains to be seen how it will stack up to the box office records that Marvel has crossed or where it will place against Avengers: Infinity War, but box office watchers still have a lot to keep an eye out for this summer.
