Disney/Pixar have released a new Incredibles 2 poster, along with a pledge that a new trailer for the animated superhero movie sequel will arrive tomorrow.
Incredibles 2 picks up exactly where the first movie left off. That film ended with The Underminer (John Ratzenberger) attacking the city. The superhero Parr family will probably dispatch him quickly so that they can get on with the rest of the film, which will see the family dynamic beginning to change. In the new movie, Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) goes back into the workforce as a superhero, while Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) becomes a stay at home dad. Meanwhile, Dash (Huck Milner) is just Dash and Violet (Sarah Vowell) is just a moody teenager who starts going through that phase where she hates her home, her family, and her parents. Edna Mode (Brad Bird) will also show up to make sure that they all look good while doing their thing.
The new Incredibles 2 poster (see below) features the Parr family front and center, ready to take on any villains that might come their way, including the mysterious villain seen at the top of the one-sheet. The poster also shows off Jack-Jack’s laser eyes ability, one of the many powers that the youngest member of the Parr family displayed in the Incredibles 2 teaser. In the background is Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson), whose wife apparently found his super suit. Edna is there too, while other superheroes are visible in the background. The poster does not feature Elastigirl’s new supersuit, though, but it’s likely that the special costume is just what she wears to work.
So who is that villain and why all the mystery? Rumors suggest that it’s a new character voiced by Bob Odenkirk, but Odenkirk won’t confirm or deny if his character is a good guy or a bad guy. Catherine Keener also has a mysterious voice role in the film, but again, Disney has not given up much information about who her character is. The movie will feature a total of 25 superheroes, but what are superheroes without supervillains to fight?
Maybe fans will learn more when the new trailer lands tomorrow, or maybe the mysteries will deepen. Whatever the case, there is no doubt that Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2 summer will also be a blockbuster one for the two studios. The Incredibles 2 teaser was the most viewed animated movie trailer of all time, meaning this is clearly a film that a whole lot of people are excited to see on the big screen.
